Some collaborations begin in a meeting room. Others begin with a genuine connection.
The story of Eastpak and DAGGER started during DAGGER’s debut AW26 runway show at Berlin Fashion Week, where customized Eastpak backpack appeared as part of the collection. What began as a creative expression quickly attracted attention. When the bags later appeared in DAGGER’s Paris showroom, visitors, buyers, and friends of the brand kept asking the same question: “How can I get one?”
Now, Eastpak and DAGGER are bringing that vision to life through an official partnership that transforms one of Eastpak’s most iconic silhouettes into a collectible piece of wearable storytelling. The collaboration sees DAGGER founder and creative director, Luke Rainey, interpret the Padded Pak’r through his distinctive creative lens, resulting in a limited collection of 150 individually numbered backpacks, each hand-customized in his Berlin studio.
The partnership unites Eastpak’s heritage of d urable everyday carry with DAGGER’s raw, personal, and deeply human approach to design. For Luke, the connection is especially meaningful. Eastpak has been part of his life since his teenage years.
“My backpack held my whole world. I went to school where we had to wear a uniform, so our bags were one of the only ways we could express ourselves. My grandmother would sew band patches onto mine, and I would write lyrics from my favorite songs all over it.”
Both Eastpak and DAGGER share the belief that a backpack becomes much more than a functional object over time. It becomes a carrier of memories, experiences, and personal stories.
By combining hand-drawn illustrations, patches, and one-of-a-kind details, DAGGER has transformed each backpack into a canvas for self-expression. Yet Luke sees his work as only the beginning.
“The bag we made for you is just the beginning of its story. I hope the 150 people who manage to get one continue to add their own stories to it. I want to meet someone wearing one in five years’ time and see that it looks completely different.”
