What happens when movement becomes more than a gesture, when it becomes a way of living?
In collaboration with Nederlands Dans Theater, Eastpak explores the space where dance and travel meet. Not as separate disciplines, but as interconnected expressions, both rooted in motion, both shaped by experience.
.
The story begins with three dancers Paloma Lassère, Nicole Ishimaru, and Ricardo Hartley, each arriving with their own history, their own perspective, their own way of moving through the world.
Their journeys are distinct, shaped by different backgrounds, experiences, and personal evolutions. But through connection, listening, and presence something shifts: their individual voices align, expanding in relation to others. What emerges is not uniformity, but a shared rhythm.
Between dance and travel, movement becomes the common thread. It exists in transitions, in repetition, in the constant moving forward.
For the dancers, travel is not occasional, it’s embedded in their everyday reality. A life that unfolds across spaces, environments, and encounters.
In this context, movement is no longer just performance, it becomes a language that expresses what is often left unseen: identity, personal growth, challenges, and the layers behind a dancer’s life.

At first, the suitcase appears as it always has: practical, functional and, part of the journey. But over time, its role shifts.
Moving from one place to another, it becomes something more than an object, it’s a presence that follows, a companion, even an extension of the self.
What it carries goes beyond what is visible: experiences, routines, fragments of places lived and encounters, departures, returns. For the dancers, it holds not just what is needed, but what has been lived.
At the center of the project lies the idea that travel is not something we arrive at, but something we move through. It’s a continuous state of becoming.
